Great report and beautiful pics., WTG Chris
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

Jeez. You kill me.
I know the spot you were fishing. On another high water year my buddy and I were slaying BIG fish a ways back from where you talked about the split in the river. It was in a pocket back and to the left of your willows shot, I think. We skipped unweighted worms onto the bank, then dragged them back into the water so they would go under a snag and get bit almost every time. That's a great spot!
Got to get up again before the weather turns bad.
If you're going to try Hamilton, try using a sinking line with a dark nymph. Get in your kayak. There are two trees right on shore on the East? side. Get right out front of the one on your right as your facing the shore.Cast towards shore, right near the bank and start stripping fast right away. The fish will slam your fly. Lots of fun! Good luck, and keep up the great reports. Thanks.

golfish - Those caddis imitations look SICK!  Spittin' image of a real one.  Sending you a PM dude.  I really need to get back into flyfishing, I have the gear and the vice but I slacked off big-time after living in Humboldt for six years.

Eric, fisheducator - Thanks guys!

CatchMO - Dark nymphs on a sinking line eh?  I'm pretty sure I know the trees you're talking about.  Typically I'll fish the Hammy upstream of the A-13 bridge, seems the fish up there are a lot more aggressive than the ones in the lake.  That is, until right at dusk.  Last year I did pretty well at the inlet on white crappie jigs and 1/8oz Kastmasters.  I need to see what's happening over there this year.  Maybe this weekend I'll give it a go.  Thanks for the tips man!

I seriously need to make it to a get-together to meet some of you NCKAers!  Always helpful, generous, and damn good anglers to boot.  You guys rock! :headbang:

Nice fish.  I've never fished that exact spot but I love the Feather River and Lake Almanor and am always stoked when I see an Almanor thread.  Nice pictures.
