Well, after getting a little inebriated :party last night watching some Ultimate Fighting, I slept through my alarm clock  :sleepy1: and missed the guys heading to Moss for salmon.  Sorry Ed!  :sad1:  Deciding that today would be too nice to not fish, I headed over to Lover's Point for a solo outing.  This being my first time out there, I wasn't really sure where to go.  I went out past the kelp and then hung a left towards otter cove, looking for Pat's halibut's bigger sister.  Ended up catching an undersized ling and several nice rockfish.  I didn't stay out too long because I knew that the winds were supposed to pick up and being alone and a newbie isn't the best combination.

On the beach I talked to a guy that told me all about Pat's halibut....and so the story spreads along the waterfront....

It looks like we are going to have lots of easy lings come July.......we just need to find some over 24 inches.  Only one of Randy's was full size last weekend.

Pat.......the famous Pat.......... :smt004

i think that halibut opened the official halibut season to folks wanting to catch one. i think this weekend you'll see some heads out there bobbing for halibut.

John - when Pat caught her halibut, there were 3 dive boats in the area....I don't know if they were spearos or just rec. divers - I was too far to notice if they had "weapons"  :smt063 with 'em.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.
