Well after getting to Ocean cove Friday and after getting everything set up me and a few of the guy's decided to make an early evening dive. Well there was Stacy,Faris,Dustin,Richand Jason and my self. We ended up diving Fisk Mill cove and were treated to decent conditions fairly flat seas and 15 to 20 ft. the dive was for me more of a sight seeing tour and to get my head clear for Saturday's event !!! do not get me wrong I had all the tools of the trade to get the job done speargun and ab bar but did not expect to use them just wanted to get wet. I believe only one fish was harmed and that was by Rich which was a nice sized kelp trout. We dove for only about an 1.5 to 2hrs just enough to get the dry out of the gills.

Sunday we had made plans to hook up with Chad watts for a dive at sea ranch since he just got a house there and could get us a pass. There was Stacy,Dustin,Faris, Micheal Don, Chad and my self. Once at sea Ranch we could se a sheet of glass and what looked like at least 10 to 12ft of vis. With great excitement we all got suited up and headed in. Now this is a known trophy spot so we all had high hopes of finding a ten. Since that was on all of our minds from the day before seeing the winners and there tens.  I dove for a good 3hrs finding and gauging over 20 Ab's that were 9.75 or bigger but not ten !!!! Found one nice pacific octo and shot one real nice black that proably 18 inches long. All the the other guys Stacy,Micheal and Dusting all got limits in the 9+ range, Chad chose to take nothing due not seeing anything he liked.

8-21-11 dive #2
Well after breaking camp and packing up Brandon and I started down hwy 1 home when we saw the ocean had even lay ed down more from the morning. No joke as my wife described it when I said there is no water movement she said yes there is ! about as much as a like LOL !!!! any who Brandon and I could not help our self's so we headed to one of our southern honey holes. Once there we were wowed with the conditions !!!! 15 ft vis Cristal clear water which does not happen at this site and no surge or swell !!!! we got suited up and started hunting for the giants !!! well on my 6th dive booya a ten !!!!! we both dove for another hr before brandon ended up getting cold !!! At that point Brandon headed in I stayed in for awhile longer trying to find another ten. I dove for about another hr finding several nice Ab's. I came across one I thought for sure was a ten, another one of those you could not get a gauge on but it looked a lot bigger than the ten I had in the float so I popped it. Well ended up not being a ten but another hog of a 9.8 any who pics below of my ten and another great weekend of diving with kick ass friends and dive buddies.

My worst day diving is still better than my best day at work !
When you enter the water you enter the food chain !

Woke up at 6am loaded the car and headed down to meet Zach and Shannon at the local park and ride parking lot. We met up at 630 and headed on out the the coast. Once at the coast we could se lake Pacific no joke !!!!! Well all 3 of us with were as Getty as school kids in hopes of finding some more ten inchers. Well we packed the gear into where we wanted to dive and suited up. Once in the nice warm 50 degree water we started our search for the elusive giant snail. We worked the shallows in the the break/surf if you could call it that. Vis was a stellar 10 to 12 ft at this spot which is normally about 0 to 3ft. We dove hard for 3 hrs I logged over 60 dives but no tens. I did however manage to come across and shoot the biggest black Rock fish I have ever seen. A 21 inch 5 pound Black. I had made a decent on a pinnacle and once on the bottom it had a nice little ledge that went back and when I approached it all I could se was fish !!!! so I gingerly backed up about 5feet and drooped my iron and float line. Went back up to the surface and yelled for Zach to bring his JBL speargun over for me which he kindly did. Did my breath up and started my decent hopping it was still holed up and he was whack !!!! on the shaft it is !!!! Ended up diving for a little longer trying get that ten but today was not the day but still went home happy that I got to dive and hey bonus I got a nice fish to go along with the day ! As typical I did not have my gun with me and as luck had it I saw another huge Grass rock fish and nice cab but that is how it is when you have no gun all the fish come say hi it is like they know any who thank you Shannon and Zach for another great dive.

Nice sized black.  Looks like you got a lot of R&R in.  thx for sharing and I'm sure we'll see a ten soon no doubt.

Thanks guy's like the rest of you it is more about the adventure not what you catch but it does make nice to go home with a nice catch.
