Jim and I went out at 0630 from the boat launch.  It was a fairly nice day, but no luck.  We ended up trolling the southern edge of the canyon out to about two miles.  We tried to keep our bait at about 200 feet, we each had one strike that dropped weight, but no luck.  One question for the smart people.  We were out there at about 10:00 when the tide line overtook our position, you could actually see the brown water coming out and pushing the blue water.  My question is if this happens is it worth it to keep fishing in the outgoing tide, brown water, or is it best just to head in when dealing with salmon.

IMO: you guys should have just mooched since the salmon are deep. Just try to stay within the edge of the canyon and slowly "yo-yo" your bait up and down the water column. Work that spot for half an hour and move on to another area (still along the edge).

As far as the outgo tide...IMO: I don't think it really matters. What's really important is to know is where the bait balls are hanging out.

just my two cents...
