Hawaii big island

I am going to the big island in may and I have a couple questions.
Is anyone familiar with the area?
I won't bring my kayak, but I am thinking of renting one.
(it won't have my set up. )
I would like to know a place to fish, from what fish are catchable, and what tackle i will need.
