It's been a while since I've gone kayak fishing or even ate any type of fish. My Volkswagen that has the kayak rack is down indefinitely, So there won't be any fishing from the yak till i get other means to hall my gear.
Thank god for charter Boats. The company i work for chartered the Kahuna out of Moss Landing this past Saturday for 22 fisherman who was willing to face the 10k-20k winds that was forecast for Pt. Sure. I quickly raised my hand for a spot. Come Saturday morning I struggled to get out of bed to make it to Moss Landing to board the Kahuna at 05:45hrs. Finally on board we headed out the jaws and started are 2 hour boat ride to Point Sure. The weather was over cast and the ocean had a little chop to it but not to bad for the 50' Fiberglass Delta Hull vessel. As we cruise around Pt. Pinos and out of  Monterey Bay the ocean got a little more choppy and the breeze was a little stronger, but again nothing that the Kahuna and its crue couldn't handle. Once we reached the fishing grounds the Captain started to zigzag around till he found a rock pile in 240ft of water and told all the fisherman to bait up and drop them down we fished this rock pile for about ten minute before he order us to reel them up because the current had pushed us away from the rockpile where the fish was holding. We did this a few time and i started getting a little discouraged because most of the fisherman around me had strait poles and the wind seem to get a little stronger. A little more zig and zag and the Captain ordered we bait up and drop down to the bottom and reel up about 30 cranks and said we were on top of a school of fish about 50 foot thick and suddenly the straight poles around me and including mine were all bending non stop for the next two hours it seemed. I was hooking up till i latterly  cramped up all my mussels in my body. It turned out that the forcast was way off the 10k-20k prodiction never happen instead the clouds broke and the sun came out and the ocean just calmed down to kayak conditions all 22fisherman + the deckhand limited out on rock fish. I know have fish in the freezer till next time. I will exit with a few of some of the shots i had time to take on and off the water. Thank You KonicaMinolta for this epic fishing trip and Thanks to the Kahuna and its crue for getting us into some of the most exciting and nonstop rock cod action.

Nice trip, thanks for the report and pics. Glad Ma Ocean fooled the weather forcasters for you.  Are the two longer fish Boccacios??? I have not caught one since Cordell closed. My old fishn' buddy would give me a ration of sh.. for keeping and eating what he termed the "Sewer trout "

Deserdiver: you are correct those are some large Boccaccio's I never heard them called Sewer trout though.

e2g: I'm working on it! I'm looking for a rack for the Dodge so i could get packing and back on the Yak. I'll hauler at you when it happens. It would be fun to be able to go out and yak fish again in MB. I'm getting the taste for some sanddabs
