I'm going to be in the Bay area this weekend visiting family in Redwood Shores.  Originally I was thinking about heading out to Half Moon Bay but it looks like the weather is going to be medium-rough.  What are other options for when the weather is not cooperating.  Type of fishing/fish is open I'm pretty flexible.  Thanks for any info.

If you mean the lagoon in Redwood city, I wouldn't bother fishing there.  Paddling yes, but doubt you will catch much if anything in those waters.  Nothing much in the way of lakes there, except the one that is closed at the base of HWY92.  Head to the beach and go fishing instead, or maybe try a pier?  I've not seen the conditions on the bay for the weekend, but i'm concerned overall about windy conditions, and the bay is not a good place to be if its windy.   :smt009  Some pier fishing might be fun if your interested in that.

Yea, i've paddled that lagoon/mud flats for fun, but not what I had in mind.  Pretty much along the coast line or somewhere in the bay would be my preference.  Didn't know if there are go to places when the wind kicks up.  Within an hour or so is reasonable.  Thanks.

If you live in the RWS area, I am looking for a paddling partner and I live in Belmont. I am thinking; Halibut/Oyster Point this weekend; close in, due to the potential for wind. In the morning there will be light wind and the wind will pick up at one o'clock as it always does on the bay. I only recently acquired my own Yak, have limited past exp. but know the ropes. I am looking to partner for safety and company. I am a very skilled fisherman. I have been a boater for 25 years.

....there's also the Port of Redwood City and Coyote Point in San Mateo. Fish for sharks and batrays = GOOD FUN if you want to know how it feels to be towed around  :smt045  Frozen squid will do the job but you need to be anchored when fishing the channels.

Hey Marty,

It's actually my sister who lives there (I am in Sacramento) so I will occassionally stay there and hit the salt.  I am probably going to be up there the weekend after next (after the Caples event).  I'll let you know.  Good luck out there this weekend.  Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the info Mooch.  That looks like a good back up plan area.  I used to live bait Bull Sharks in Key West.  We would chum them up, throw a perch under a balloon, and when they were inhaled, get towed around in a little two man plastic Bass Tracker.  I even had a 8' "tame" one who we "rode" for a while, it let us get right next to it, pet it, before letting it cruise away.  Big dark shadows under the boat is spooky stuff.
