I was wondering if anyone installed the rod tube in their ultra and if you think the rods would interfere with the fish finder when stowed under the hatch.  I really don't want to cut out the center storage bottom to allow for rod storage,  I feel like some sea- worthiness would be compromised.  Photos would be great if you got 'em.

Thanks,

L

I put one in my 4.7. Its an easy job. Just make sure to lube the tube so it slides in easier. :smt003 You can fit I would guess 3 rods with the reels on. So depending on the butt length of the rod it might interfere with the clearnce on the FF/Gps when the lid is flipped.  The tube is 6' 9" long and you have about another 6-8 inches of clearance before it might get in the way of the FF if you mount it on the removable plate on the hatch. The reels would definetly have to be off.

Ravensblack is the lube for the tube provided when purchasing the tube?  What kind of lube are you talking about?  Thanks!

I'm guessing anything with lubricating qualities would work... crisco, olive oil, motor oil, maybe even that stuff that gets warm when you blow on it,  I forget what it's called, but I know it comes in many flavors.

Some light oil like 3in1. You dont want to oblong the hole too much. The tube goes in at an angle. By applying a twisting motion while pushing it in works. Sounds funny to say that but thats it. It lines up perfectly with the formed nuts in the hull.
