Hello ya all,

I am planning to take the family for some beach fun activities weekday next week around the Santa Cruz area.

I've been lots of times to Capitola and SC Wharf and was thinking going to Cement Ship to catch some dines, macs or whatever is biting.  I haven't been to Cement Ship in years and need some advice for a good place for beach fun and fishing (catching hopefuly) :smt003  My daughter is 4 years old.

I am not bringing my yak.  That's her with a "No more fishing for you Daddy - Take me to Chuck E Cheese" look.

She's SOOOO Cute!!

I've never had much luck catching, but we always have a great time on the Capitola Wharf, and the beach is great right there too IMO.

Ed at the Baitshop there will be able to give you advice on what is working the best to try and get her to catch something as well!!

Have fun!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

The only "fishing" I have ever done off of the SC wharf was buying shellfish @ stagnaros!

a sabiki-ish rig with some squid bits ought to catch something at either pier though.

with a look like that you better listen  :smt001

the cement ship had a red tide starting to bloom yesterday 8/4 and that usually turns off everything.  I looked around 4 pm and no one had anything.

I've seen kids catch really small shiner perch off the end of the Capitola Wharf using squid bits.

Capitola is way more friendly place for fishing, both for kids and dads.  Ed at the shop will share all current info and tips.

there's some perch there now, and the sardines and mackerel are in and out.  always a chance of a striper or halibut for pops, too.

Carolina rig with live shiner or sardine behind the breakers for flatties, or a sliding bobber with live bait for the stipers.

good luck!

Allen
