So the GF & I got out on the water at 10 ish. Plan was to grab a quick limit of abs and then go paddling.

On the way down talking to a spear diver he said water was about 20 feet of vis, Im thinking cool, Ive never been ab diving before with more than about 6 feet of vis.

We paddle out about 400 yards to the right. the water is very blue. I go to grab the quick limit of abs. Hopping into the water, the spear diver is not kidding, the water is SUPER CLEAR, I can actually see the bottom!!!!!

I go to make my first dive at what I think is about 25 feet, its what the sonar had said when i started putting my gear on. I go vertical, dolphin kick, once, twice, a 3rd time a 4th time, and 5th time my  35 foot float line goes taunt, and im still 10 ft from the bottom.

The VISABILITY WAS LIKE 45 FEET.  It was amazing.  I was seeing a fair number of blue rock fish, mid sized lings/cabs, Makes me want to get a spear gun.

For the first 10 minutes I was not seeing very many abs, and the ones i was seeing were small, and started to think maybe the area was picked over, I Then moved over 50 yards, grabbed one that was maybe 8 1/4, on the way up from that one spotted another slightly bigger, I pulled that second one, then saw there were like fifteen 4- 8 1/2 abs, and that they were all over the place. Diving back down 4 or 5  more times biggest one i could find was  a thick 8 1/2  which i grabbed and was done.

mission accomplished, now for kayaking with the GF.

THE NEXT 90 minutes I was kicking my self about diving too close to the entrance as I saw alot of really really good looking areas to dive on the fish finder, that were farther from where every one else dives.

Also a Funny not I hear scratch, scratch, scratch, coming from the back of my kayak and look back to see one of the abalones trying to climb out of the storage well on the back of my T 15, I tapped it a few times with my paddle and said "bad abalone" and it quite trying to climb out.
