Awesome score!

Were those the only salmon landed by a kayaker this weekend?

Sounds like downriggers are called for if I give it a shot next weekend.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

John-
Chuck and I both used a lot of lead to get down. I clipped on two and three of my heaviest mooching balls that I had. At the heaviest, I had a 6oz. a 5oz and a 4oz. But, that didn't work too well. My guess is that the weights were spinning and fouling up my rig. I took off the 4ozer and that worked okay. I put out my water sock to slow things down a bit too. Without it, I was trooching big time. Actually, that's when I got my hookups. I think Chuck threw down a 12oz ball... And you have to use Spectra or something like it. Once that mono gets down a bit... forget it. Fishing down that deep with that much weight pretty much sucks. You can barely feel the bites. Reeling in that much line sucks big time too. But hey... I'll do whatever it takes to catch fish.

Joe-
There's a lot of fishing to be done before the end of the year. I'm sure it'll be wide open come Summer.

Joe-

You never mentioned how your ab trip ended up. I hope you and your buddy from "U-daho" got them.

looks like this year will be the year of the "Savage"  :tiesto:

score so far: Keeper Sturgeon, biggest striper to date and a limit of Salmon on opening day.

Congrats on a great catch despite crappy conditions  :smt023

Did I miss the measurement of your salmon Freddie?  We need to know what the target is for next weekend.

Saltwater is the cure for everything that ails us,
sweat, tear or the sea.

Pat-

Your halibut was great. Went over to Stuie's and cut it up. Had some sashimi and some fried. It was good both ways. Also, sashimi'd my salmon and fried some of it up. Stuie kicked down some Ahi, some cold beer and hot rice... Damn, it was good stuff. I took some pix of the plate. Might be a while before I get to eat like that again. I'll post them when I find my camera cable thingy. About the salmon... Don't worry too much about this one... it's the next one that you have to worry about. But, just in case... you'll need 31" to take over first place as far as the salmon goes. Shouldn't be too hard to score one bigger than that.

Happy hunting...

Freddie

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I said it once and I'm saying it  again, you are the Man!!!

I watched you Hook the Kings in the river and now in the Ocean. Dam your good...

I wanted  to paddle out when ChuckE headed your way but I was getting hit in the shallows at 40 pulls so i decided to try a little longer. I have to get a VHF soon!  Again, CONGRATULATION.

When is the next outing?
