I needed to gear up and get myself a fish finder. I decided to go with the H 596 ci, from Cabela's - Great customer service BTW.
While I was looking into my options I came across Navionics map and I picked the Fish n chip.
I have to say I'm very impressed by the precision of this map and it makes it really easy to get a creal understanding of the ocean floor.
I also used it in the SF bay and it has an amazing precision.

The only down side is the fact that you cannot read the maps on an iphone/Android.

Cheers,
C-

Sounded like a good idea till I looked at the price. $200 is a bit steep.

Yeah it is but I got to use it for the first time yesterday off of Timber Cove,  I like it,  much more detail than the standard map included with the unit, the contour lines tell you which way to go to get deeper/shallower or stay at the same depth, very detailed coastline so you tell exactly where you are.  Loaded right up and showed all my previous waypoints.

Depends on your budget but for me it was worth it.
