You just went up 6 notches on the bad ass savage scale for biting through the kelp.

....add another 2 for the awesome write-up.  Keep these on file young man, if I had kept a journal of all my adventures it would have made for a good comic strip....you should have a nice book when you're my age.

PS.....I thought you were poking fun of old fry master in a red suit....then I seen the pics in the lovers pt report....style and class, please tell me you rolled there in a convertible caddy circa 1970's.

My first go out.  Lots of fun, but I had too much buoyancy in that thick ass suit.  Needed to shove two lead ingots down my shorts to get down wearing all that rubber.  bobbing around like a cork, totally lolz.  :jerk:

Fish had absolutely nothing to fear from me on Saturday.  In fact, the only thing I speared was my parka.  True story.  Me and Pork were waiting for Rick to finish grocery shopping because he was on Pork's yak, and my keys were stowed aboard the little bow bag in the front hatch.  Any minute now, he's coming in, I'm thinking.  So I peel off the wetsuit top b/c its starting to get hot.

About an hour later, I can't take it no more as my shoulders are fried like wontons.  I ask Brent to borrow some clothing in his truck.  He pops his trunk.  Hmmmm, i see his spear, and get to thinking, maybe I can hook my parka off my dashboard using the flopper tip.  Fortunately I had cracked my windows juuuuuuuuuust enough, insert spear, hook and miss hook and miss, repeat 3x and finally, BINGO!!  retrieved my hooded park, saving me from a 3rd degree burn from the hot sun in the brilliantly blue sky.

My conditioning is improving all the time and just need to get jocked up with some gear.  This seems like a relatively inexpensive hobby that hybridizes many of my existing interests.

Rick is a great young companion.  His patience and instruction belie the one year he's spent in the sport.  He even lined me up with a grassie, marked it with his gun to put me on the fish in this crack.  I let loose with the pole spear but missed the SOB.  Really appreciate his didactic efforts, I'll remember them, they were not wasted b/c I'll be back for sure.

Nice work young buck.  Shark_bait and I were working coral street.  I was fishing the deeper water, Shark_bait was diving in 35 FOW.  He shot a limit of fish, but no lings.

As we were leaving I saw a sherbet yak on the water and figured that was Porky with his unusual yak color.  At lovers point I saw a white van with green flames and 3 yaks on the roof.  Didnt think to look at the wedding to find sir Masterfish  :smt001

Eugene, yes that was me in Porky's yak. Did you or Nathan have a yellow yak with a dive flag? I saw one as I looked way out to the left. Congrats to Nathan on the stringer.

Started diving a year ago!  When I was your age...  Let's not get into that.   :smt005  Anyway - keep it up, Man, you're on a good track.  That was a great writeup, and your entire M.O. is worthy of great admiration from all of us.  Bit through the kelp...  No, SIMPLY bit through the kelp!  You're good, Rick.  Slick Rick the Ruler, I dig your way.   :smt001

Way to go, Martin, on a good first dive experience.  Way to go also on hooking up with Rick.

I can't say enough about how proud I am to be part of a group that does these things together and for each other.  WELL DONE!

Looking forward to that Seabass, Ruler.   :smt001

He was in a "run me over green" t 13 but used that as the mother ship and was using his new yellow diveboard, and that has a flag on it.  I was in an orange t 15 few hundred yards off the kelp beds.  One of these days we will run into each other.  Nathan is 16.

Oh, it could've been a yellow board that I saw. I couldn't really tell at the angle it was sitting. And for sure, I always enjoy diving with different people for the camaraderie aspect of it.
