Hello ther for fishinge, I am new at fishing from a kayak, I now have a WS 13 Tandem, I have  a chance to pick up a 2007 Hobie Adventure that has not been used much in excellent condition for $1250, I was wondering if I should and how good would it be fishing on the Bay or Coast, is it stable?

Of the hobie line up, the adventure is the least stable, but the fastest and longest. If you put some stabilizers on  the side it should keep help a lot. Overall most Hobies and OK are pretty stable and adequate for bay fishing with or without the stabilizers.

I've had my 2007 Adventure/AI for a couple of months. While i mostly run in some configuratino with the AI's amas, as a kayak only I would say it is an awesome platform.  It is a bit more "tippy feeling" than my old Prowler 15, but fast as all get out. In chop it is a wetter ride as it punches through wind chop rather than running up and over, but i wouldn't trade it now for the world (sorry OK)

Goes w/o saying that it's not going to be as stable as a yak that is 31" or 36" wide.  However, I've pedaled my Adventure in some rough stuff and mixed swells, including Albion last Friday morning.  It's stable enough for me.
And it's one of the fastest yaks out there, along with a T160 I used to paddle.  It only slowed me down when I've got a lot of fish on a stringer out the side of my yak.  :smt003

If time is on your side, try pedaling the Adventure and compare to the Revo, T13, T160/140...
Down to 1 Hobie Revo...

I've been fishing the Hobie Adventure as my primary fishing rig since early 2007.  I love it's speed and versatility.  For me, it's quite stable.  And now that I have the amas and sail, I really think it's the ultimate fishing craft.

$1250 is a good price.

+1 ...  The 2007 I think still has the old design for locking the mirage drive.  Make sure there are no cracks in that area.

It will definitely FEEL tippy when you first try it.  But once you get used to the secondary stability, you'll almost have to work at it to fall out.

There are two kinds of stability: Primary, and secondary.  The Adventure has not so much primary, but lots of secondary stability.

I think ChuckE is the only person in NCKA who has had an Adventure longer than myself.  And all of his comments are spot on!

IMO, $1250 is a terrific price if it's in as good as shape as you indicate.  Snatch it up.

Like Eric said, the stability will take a little bit to get used too, but once you do, it's golden!  FWIW, I've never unintentionally dumped.  And now I know I will. :smt009

I love my adventure.  You can really cover some water due to the speed, and it handles big and rough water well.  I find the stability is just as good as my P13 was.  There are more stable kayaks, but I find the Adventure perfect for my needs.  The ability to upgrade it to an island is always there too!

The Adventure is the only kayak I've ever fished from. I bought it (Adventure Island) for all the possibilities in the various forms from full-out sailing to base kayak work.

Other than the first hour I used the Adventure, I find it fantastic for fishing. My maiden voyage as a kayaker felt like I was trying to get onto or into a rolling log! I made an ass out of myself in front of a crowd of people at the dock. Nearly went head first right into the water after climbing into it.

The thing looked 20 feet long and a foot wide at that point...

I only had one other time when I almost dumped and that was reaching back for a fishing rod and not thinking K-A-Y-A-K. Lesson learned and now (still a bit of a rookie) I feel like I'm one with the boat. Feels solid now.

The Adventure is a fishing machine. I love it in kayak mode so much now that I use the sail to store lawn clippings in my backyard  :smt044

Bought an Adventure in 2009.  Fished it plenty on the pond.  I have been out in very rough water.  The boat kicks ;lsdkfj!  Love it, and fast.  It did feel a little "tippy" on my very first outing.  But then I was used to an Aires inflatable tandem which was absolutely bomb proof, adults could stand in that thing (read slow as a dead worm).  You will love the adventure, snap it up.
