Just learned from Jim that the plane crash in Watsonville, was the plane of DeDe Houghton, her husband David and there 2 boys. They all died in the crash. They ran Auqua Safaris in Santa Cruz and they were GREAT people with a great customer based shop. Our local shop here in Santa Cruz.

This is just crappy news, why does this stuff happen to the good people?

A family member put together this page for them if you are interested or shocked by this news... A good place to post comments for the remaining family.

definitely some bad vibes in the water community right now.  I do not pretend to understand why this shit happens but I do know that each and every day is a gift.  They lived their lives doing what they loved.  Every day no matter how shitty things seem, there are blessing around you.  If you seek out those things, life is better.  Crap still happens but the way you react to it will be different.

I got certified through them in the early 90s.  Never met the owners but was told he was a firefighter, so it might have been him/them.  Either way, too sad, especially seeing the kids in the pic.

Just went by the dive shop and dropped of flowers. Lots of other flowers there already. Lots of great pictures of the entire family. Hand written messages all over the windows. Sad but cool to see the support. Hard not to feel emtional visiting the shop. This was a first class customer based family biz. Dede was a wealth of knowledge and support.
