Does anyone know how I can determine what year a an Outback was made? I have an outback that I want to sell but I don't remember the exactly what year I bought it. I think it was 2003.

Thanks,
John

Serial numbers on Hobie Kayaks are located on the transom or rear of the hull.  The number is hand-engraved using a vibration tool.  The number is on the underside of the rear of the boat, on the right side.  Newer boats have a rectangular, raised, ridge around the serial number to make it easier to find.  You can rub a small amount of graphite or soil into the serial number engraving to make it easier to read.  Serial numbers use the following format: (example CCMB2345H989).  The last 2 digits is the model year of the Hobie kayak.

I.D        MODEL       SERIAL #        MONTH BUILT       YEAR BUILT        MODEL YEAR
CCM            A               1234                     A                          3                      03

I need to sell my 2005 Outback but I have no idea what is a fair price to ask. Anyone know what it is worth?

Thanks,
John

depending on condition, rigging, and accessories ... anything b/t $800 to $1.1K.  It would have to be tricked out to get the higher end, obviously.

That's not a very new boat.  But I'm guessing its in pretty mint condition?

Thanks for the info Yakusa. What is the definition of mint with a Kayak? It has been used about a dozen times. I never like to call anything that is not brand new mint condition unless it has not been used.

Thanks,
John

I would think it's between "great" or "excellent" condition.  Also I would include any other gears that will be included with this sale like: seat, paddle, kayak cart, etc...they might make the sale more attractive.

If you have stored it properly, and only used a dozen times, i'd say that you can probably get $1200 for it with all the accessories.  Yeah, if you post it, it will be gone today  :smt006
