yeah, that article say 200-300 yards off shore. Uh, unless the perspective in the pic is really skewed or the shark is frikken humongous, the pic does not show something 200 yards offshore :smt044

I would guess that is was indeed a GWS, but I suppose it could be a salmon shark since they look almost identical in the water. I heard about it on the surf report this morning.

I don't understand why they close the beaches.  The water is far more dangerous than the sharks.

I know!!  Close the sharks and leave the beach open instead lol.

I swam out of Cowells Saturday morning.  Beautiful, flat calm, light breeze.  I headed out to the mile buoy where several boats were drifting for 'buts.  Had a few momentary freakouts, but made it back in unscathed.  Such an awesome feeling out on the water, I'd hate to ever give it up.
