Let me clarify...you can eat the siphon (aka pecker) or the adductors raw.  The rest needs to be cooked...REALLY!

Can you get paralytic shellfish poisoning from the guts?  I was reading about that in regards to the oyster quarantine, and appearantly the only reason there isn't a clam and scallop quarantine too is that folks don't tend to eat their viscera.  I'm pretty sure if I gave one of these to my grandmother in law it'd go into the pot whole (cabezone heads did), so....?

I'm sure you could...but the stomach on these is huge!!!!  I can't imagine eating one whole.
