Pondsurf and I have been fishing close to that area every Friday and have been doing fairly well (1 keeper in 3 attempts) on every tide except on a flood, especially on the slack after a big ebb.  They didn't bite at all during the rain though. We've been fishing below the railroad trestle area or around the BMK entrance.  Lots of jumpers there.  Eel has been producing.  Harbor master at Port Sonoma kicked us out after seeing us pulling our kayaks up the walkway so we now launch at the end of the spit which runs parallel to the river, even though he told us we couldn't launch anywhere!  Signs everywhere declaring it public access.

Yes, but we are launching at Port Sonoma Marina where Leonard's Bait and Tackle is, right across the river from the Black Point launch ramp. We've been fishing down river and below the railroad trestle bridge.

Ahhhh. Right on. Thanks for the info.

I plan on fishing that area and the Petaluma River a little further north a lot in the next couple of months.

what fish did you catch in that area -- Sturgeons, stripers or something else?
