Fishing vacation intel needed

My brother would like to know.Where you guys recommend going to do some trout fishing and camping 2-4 hrs from San Francisco.Thanks for your help.tiny

My favorite is Bucks Lake, Sundew Campground http://bit.ly/kYgo3r
It's still closed due to snow right now, but every time I've been there the trout bite has been epic. Bring 3 or 4 Jakes Spin-a-lures in gold w/red dots and you can't lose.

Hwy 88 Corridor http://www.forestcamping.com/dow/pacficsw/eldoinfo.htm.  Lots of camping options for a variety of trout species at Staples, Proton, or Fred lakes.

Pinecrest is a nice, scenic area.  Lost of fishing around there and yak friendly (if he has them).

I spent a couple days up at Tahoe last summer with a buddy who owns a cabin.  We fished tahoe for kokes, caples and some random little lake that we had to 4 wheel into. We also had the option of hitting a couple different streams and at least three or four other small lakes from home base in So. Lake.  Excellent trip, all the fun of the resort town with access to wild country and numerous lakes, some unreal scenery up there for sure.  Gonna try and repeat that trip this year.       

Hat Creek corridor is another good one.  Nice campgrounds, not crowded, lots of planters and if you get off the beaten path you can get into some nice wild fish.  Might be a bit farther though.
