It appears that Santa Clara County Parks will be reopening Lexington Reservoir to boats.  :groupwave

Yeah, but I was thinking, it will still cost an arm and a leg to play. :smt009

Yeah, thanks for the heads up.
It's one of the few South Bay lakes that doesn't have fish sufficiently tainted with mercury to make eating them unwise.
Good Crappie fishing.

They waited until I moved to Tracy to open it however  :smt012

County BOS met on May 24 and Board adopted recommendations from the Water District Staff.  Well, it wasn't exactly a recommendation so much as acceding to demands by a SUP'ing lawyer, Dan Casas.  Without going into the gory details, Dan noted the inequity of relying on the vessel ban to bar public access, while LGRC got a free pass.  He laid out a fairly convincing argument to SC County Counsel, and didn't even file suit (although that was the next step if Lex didn't open).  Dude is aces at real property law.

Co. Counsel confirmed only that a mussel inspection station would be opened at Lex "for paddleboards".  Co. Counsel did not say that Staff recommended Lex to open to all non-gas boats, although that may ultimately be how the regs pan out.

Anyway, this is great news, and just in time for summer if we ever stinking get one LOL.  Drop Dan a note after Lex opens, I'm sure he'd appreciate it.  http://legalteam.com/

Wow, thanks Michael!!!  I'm excited, even though I know it will cost $$$ for inspections, I believe the rest of the park is free(at least parking can be)?  So that's finally a close body of water that I could yak at!!   :smt007

I cant see them staffing the inspection booth for only 'paddleboarders', how will that generate enough revenue to break even on the staffing?  They must mean paddle crafts or something similar.

It will most likely be non gas-powered water craft that can use the lake.

I wonder if there are any fish in there after the draw down from the construction

Oh I'll bet there are plenty. Hold over Trout maybe not—might heated up and killed them off.
But Black/LM Bass and Crappie are still  there I'll bet. Don't know if there are Smallies there or not.
And certainly there are Sunfish.

I wonder if DFG stopped trout stocking during the drawdown (likely) and may not have resumed

Very great news if it truley happens!  There were plenty of big bass pre dam work, hopefully bankers haven't emptied the lake of them.

This is amazing news!!! :smt007

They closed lex to outside boats right before I bought my first kayak. I've fished there plenty of times so I know how good it can be but have yet to do it in the yak. I'll be there the weekend of the 2/3 of July. Already cleared it with the Mrs.

Hope there are still fish in there.
