The wx doesn't look good for this week, but I'll be camping with family at Russian Gulch from Wed-Sat.
I'll be diving with my 13 yr old son, who's diving for the first time (he's been practicing in the pool).

I hear Jack Peters Gulch and Glass beach are good places to take a newb.  Any other suggestions?

Why not Russian Gulch itself?

It's a very protected launch, and if it's too rough to get to the outside, you can always dive off the south point behind the rocks.

Just a walleye fisherman from MN tryin' ta get salty!

The South cove at Russian Gulch is way protected, Caspar is an easy spot too.  I've been wanting to dive Glass Beach, be sure to take lots of pictures if you do!

I'm sure you'll get allot of feedback on this one.  Here's a link to where I've taken many first timers at Van Damme,  it's a large area but has a variety of cool stuff to see and is usually pretty protected by the reef ofshore.

thx everyone for your advice.  Looks like RG & VD !!

I'm in campsite 25 wed - sat if anyone wants to swing by.  I'll even have some kimchi stew and some meat on the bbq if you come by around dinner time.

I will be up in Albion fro Friday June 17 through Monday June 20. I was going to bring the whaler but decided not to so I will be fishing and diving off the kayak. Shoot me a pm if you want to hookup.  We will be in D-10 at Albion.

John:

I dove for abs exactly once.  Right at that spot, just beyond the crack.  Lots of abs there.

If this old guy can do it your kid should have NP

be fun and have safe!
