So now that i have a half dozen outings on the AI I started to do a few mods. Scoured the boards and found the ones i liked + added a couple of my own.
Pics of two...but here's the list:
1) Added swaged weed whacker gear keepers inside the hatches
2) Added the "Lowe's" 5qt gear bucket to the rear hatch (with OTW repair gear in it)
3) Added a pad eye in front of the mirage drive
4) put a teeny tiniy hole and a weed whacker loop in the mirage drive (clips to #3)
5) Taco 1.5" rod holder to the rear Aka
6) Tramps! 350 bucks seemed too steep, and the ebay ones looked to cheap, so i copied the originals, but added two 1" webbing strips (as attachment points) across them width wise.
7) removed the mesh on the side pocket on one side, and added an attachment loop

Still haven't finalized the FF mount, but the transducer and battery are in.

I'm loving using swaged weed whacker line for gear keepers, holds its shape, strong, yet low profile.

Steve,

Those tramps look great! Like the webbing strip idea. My factory tramps have that big centered pocket that I haven't really used yet. My rods/landing net are just sitting on top for now. That will have to change when I go to bigger water/bigger gear.

I like the rod holder location/tube angle you have. Are there any problems when you fold in the outrigger for fish fighting? Height of it hitting your arm etc.?

There is one modification I would like to see on the Adventure/Adventure Island hull. I'm catching big time water through the side handle wells at speed when I'm sailing. The water ends up directly in my seat. The tramps don't help much for that situation. Almost need a flush plastic snap-on/off cap to cover the top of the handle well. I might just bring a piece of foam etc. to stuff in there and block it off.

Where did you put the battery/transducer?

Karl

no problems folding in the ama, that rear aka folds back, so its way outta the way.

I put the transducer basically under my a@@ - as far back as i could reach dead center. The battery i ran extra long wires to the rear hatch, where it sits in a waterproof case, just aft of the lowe's bucket. The case has a keeper cable on it, so it can't slide too far around.

I had a tramp sewn up first from another material, and used grommets to create lash points on it. Next trip i realized taht i wanted a flat daisy chain.  You could easily get that sewn on - probably 10 bucks at a canvas shop. run the 1" all the way across width wise and bar tack it every 4" or so.

How did you place your FF ?
I'm thinking a ram mount just forward of the left mesh pocket...but then might also do similiar on the main brace forward on the far left (right now it is inboard of the mount to the hull

I haven't installed the FF yet either. I see many of the installs on AI's are on the left side front crossbar. It would be out of the way up there but my eyes are not that good and it seems like a stretch. I've considered the cup holder on the right side. I would have to rotate the unit screen vertical/horizontal a lot to keep it out of the way though. The plus would be great visibility and control. Your spot might just be the best but I'm wondering about getting in the way of the rod while jigging etc.

It's almost something where you need to temporary (duct tape etc.) mount the screen and check it out while you're pedaling, fishing and underway to figure out the pros/cons of each location. See where your legs/knees are while pedaling/resting and your fishing arm is etc.

I'm still trying to figure out which side of the boat I will be rockfish/lingcod jigging from. I'm right handed, but I'm almost sure that I would prefer the left side of the boat for the line drop when I go out with just the one outrigger set up. It's something you don't really think about while your fishing...

So I need to do a rockfish trip. And bring both outrigger sides to swap out and determine my preference when heavy jigging.

Your design has some nice advantages over the more expensive Hobie factory tramps.  GREAT JOB!
