Hi everyone, I am new (newbie) to the form. I enjoy nature, but mostly hunting anyone knows good public lands to hunt hog? I've heard Gerberville,Ca and Redding,Ca has good report and harvesting. I've also hear about guide service fee and i just don't have that money (especially with this economy and a large family to feed) I can use some produces.

Thanks,
Mike

For Norcal Lake Sonoma has some pig hunting but it is seasonal for that area. For central Ca Fort Hunter Ligget has pig, dear. duck, quail, dove, turkey and band tail pigeon. But it is hard hunting for the pigs. If you like bird hunting its a fine place. Public hunting in California is tough but it can be done. There are some people who hunt on this forum but I don't know if they are willing to give up those hidden public spots.  :smt012

Pigs on public land are very tough. I got lucky and had a chance to hunt for free on private land.

There are pigs there, but its a lot of work.  Mountains, valleys, poison oak and 365,000 acres to look at. They break the area into 29 or 30 zones. Check the web site for Fort Hunter Ligget I believe they tell you what the harvest was or they used to.

Its tuff going dude. If your looking for a way to get out and enjoy nature and maybe shoot a pig. hit lake sonoma. best public chances i think. If your looking to get out n peed your family by smacking a pig. Dont count it it bro. It can be Done. but youll spend alotta loot and man hours looking(TrustMe). dont let me discourage you bro Go get one! Ive seen it done!

I will give it a shot when the rain comes in..i've done many research about hogs and they love the rainning season especially when the ground is moist and easier to root. I know everyone has a honey hole spot but not to mention to other (ex. won't tell if you tell) then that wouldn't consider as a secert anymore. will wish me lucks on my skills and hope my research plays a factor either this week or next week hunts. Thanks everyone for the tips.
