Matt I'm not judging here but I think if you want to be taken seriously you might shed some light on your hygrading experience since you are teaching a class on Taking Trophy Abs where there must always be that urge to upgrade. There is a huge difference between a mistake and   consciously breaking the law. If you have in fact been cited the question is not out of line.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

OK to make it short and sweet !!! Yes I was ticketed for Highgrading and lost sight of what really matters  !!!! I let the greed of getting the big ab get the better of me and cloud my judgement. Which in the big picture of things was only was cheating my self out of the true satisfaction and thrill of achieving that goal !!!! Like allot of other divers/trophy divers in life I lost sight of what really mattered to me and that was the hunt and challenge not the totall count of how many 10's one may  have. It is one of the things I will be addressing in the presentation. How ethics and judgment can get clouded !!!!  Hope that clears things up and you all may not believe  it and it may sound clushey (SP) but it has made me a better diver and person going threw this cause it really made reevaluate my self and what I want to be and how I want to be as a diver.

+1

If you can learn from the experience and share the lessons learned with other divers, that is all anybody can ask of you...

I hope your seminar goes well for you. Trophy ab diving seems to be becoming very popular so hopefully you can promote sound ethics and values and respect for the resource as the priorities when abalone hunting.

Sincerely,

Jim
