Its funny that technology advanced so fast.. they can get a free google voice number and a free blog website.

Thanks for the post, great information, I never really knew what the tagging was for.

I just recieved a written reply from DF&G thanking me for turning in the tagged fish. They gave information about the fish like when it was caught, measured, released, depth and location. I must say it was full of great info and was not a computer generated reply, a person actually wrote it and was genously thankful for the return of the tag. I would advise anybody who catches a tagged fish to try to measure, identify, and get location/GPS of where you caught it. You can even get the number off the fish and release it. They really just want the information for their studies. You might even get a nice t shirt or hat for your trouble. :smt003

Thanks for the update Brian :) It is really cool that the DFG sends back info about the life of that tagged fish!

I caught a tagged fish once at SWS, but released that fish not knowing whether a tagged fish were allowed to keep or not. When in doubt, let it go!! :D

If I ever do get another tagged fish, I'll take down all possible info and number before I release it again :)

I know Scot Lucas, I've met Rick Starr... I've worked w/both. They and their staff care... We've got to do our part. Study cross overs, dried up funds, changes in our fisheries, MPA's, MLPA's and water quality..., just to name a few issues... must be looked at. The data must be documented.  We all claim to want our grandkids to grow up fishing... ? Pay it forward!!!
