Though I have seen it before, I just had a new idea, wonder if its possible?  How about hooking up rods to the arrows instead of the bow?  That way the rods could be setup and people can keep shooting while others reel em in?   :smt044

i was worried it had been posted before, but I searched the forum and didn't find—it must be REALLY old LOL.

As far as hooking up a rod, I'd think that would be way more fun but you have to be very careful—if any thing snags you had a fast moving and sharp projectile from a compound bow snapping back at you at nearly a couple of hundred feet per second. People have been seriously injured even killed. I keep wanting to setup my Matthews Z7 to do this but there are other priorities—i don't own a boat and bow hunting from a kayak would be tough as you need to stand up. Maybe the Raptor is a good option.

Might be illegal the DFG regs say the arrow has to be attached to the bow or reel mounted on the bow.

According to DFG Lt. Scott Melvin, to help ensure speared fish are retrieved, the arrow shaft or the point, or both, must be attached by a line to the bow, but the line can be attached either directly to the bow or to a fishing reel mounted on the bow (including crossbow) (California Code of Regulations Title 14, Section 1.23).

Eureka! I have it. You take a short rod and reel and combine it with a parallel-limbed compound bow. Then the reel is attached to the "bow" just a part that sticks up past the upper limbs  :smt003.

They do have small rod tips that mount inline with the reels on our bowfishing bows. It takes the strain off the reel itself when fighting a large fish.

They do sell longer ones, but it get's in the way a lot.

Here is one I airbrushed earlier this year
