This place is less than 100 dollars and is a short walk to the boardwalk, wharf, west cliff and downtown:

Conveniently located between bars on Pacific Ave and the wharf....BUT, while not as sketch as the flats, a lots of bad stuff goes down in that zone too (lower pacific area)...I would say totally fine in daytime, but would not advise a drunk stumble home from the Asti or the Avenue.

I've never had any problems in any part of town, but sh*t happens more frequently in certain spots, so just a heads up.

Sincerely,

Jim

Think that I stayed there once, long time ago.  The top floor with hot tub and large balcony was very nice!  If you like indian food at all, check out the Royal Taj in SC.  Thai food, check out Thai House on Ocean/Soquel.  Also cant go wrong with the Santa Cruz dinner for 24 hour a day food!  DONT forget to stop by Mariannes Ice Cream as well!!!  Both on Ocean st.

What else ya plan on doing while your down here???

Up until last Tues, I was a big fan RI.  Then, on Tues night, my new boss and I ate dinner there.  Walking through the hallway leading to the front door of the restaurant, there is an increasingly strong smell of urine and other noisome odors.  For a second, I had a flashback of Saigon '75.  My boss (who hales from Boston) cried "Wicked!!"  ROFL, how embarrassing . . .

Sux bc I used to love the RI on Soquel.  But I wrote it off after last Tues, whether the restaurant is  to blame or fault lays with the manager/maintenance service of Branciforte Plaza building for not cleaning up after weekday usage.
