Finally back OTW.  Haven't fished since March.  Got my grades turned in at noon, and headed to Cabrillo Beach on the inside.  Windy as ***** caught (and released) one short sand bass and I caught a herring on a plastic swim bait.  It would've made great bait (huge herring) but I was just about to head home.  Man, it feels good, even if it was a skimpy day.  It's been too long.  Maybe tomorrow I will go over to King Harbor for the first time!

Glad you got your "water therapy" and caught some fish in the process.  Thanks for the report and picture Dbradfield.

Time on the water, and a fish pic to go with it is kind of like a martini with an olive-the first is what is really does the job, but it just goes so well with the addition!

Sandbass are great little gamefish, they hit hard and have shoulders on them.
congrats, and good luck for future outings!

I haven't quite got the knack of hali fishing yet.  I see some folks doing really well.  Last August through the mid fall I was able to catch lots of shorts ... several per trip .. on plastic swim baits, but that shut off.  Most of those folks catching legals are using bait.  I've not set up a live bait well or bait tube yet.   Wife gave me a hobie fishfinder/lowrance for Christmas and I have not installed it yet.  It's been a really busy spring so I'm still feeling my way around for good spots.  The place I caught the short sandbass has produced for me in the past and it's on my spots to target as I "feel my way around."   Need to get some training and learn to surf launch on the outside at Cabrillo.  Need to try King Harbor.  ah -- I love summer.   :smt005
