I want to purchase an Ocean Kayak Ultra 4.7 to round out my fleet for the family and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this boat. I currently own three other Ocean Kayaks (2- Prowler 13s and a Prowler 15) and I really like them. The Ultra 4.7 looks like a sweet boat with all the bells and whistles.

Does anyone know the best place to purchase this boat and if there are any deals out there?

Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Ray

Thanks Eric for the response. I am closer to Manteca so I would probably go there to check out the boat. In your opinion, is this boat worth the extra $400 - $500 over the Trident 15? I want to get a nice boat but I don't want to spend the extra money if there are no big differences.

Thanks again,
Ray

The ultra has some nice features - BUT,
With that being said - I think if this is going to be your main boat I would seggest the Trident as Craig mentioned. It is a solid platform and the money saved could buy some goods for the pimping. Also having the rod pod is a major bonus. Just be sure to add a rudder as Craig said and you will be verry happy.

Thanks guys. I was starting to lean more towards the T-15 and just needed a little push. I will definitely look for a model with a rudder.

I agree Eric that the extra money will help with purchasing some extra goodies.

I really appreciate the feedback,
Ray

Tiny bit more input from a current 4.7 owner and borrower of many T15s.  The 4.7 is rigged pretty good from the get go, but the T15 is easier to add additional flush mounts to,,, the 4.7's center pod is solid and easy to get into and easy to cutout bottom to make similar to T15 or you can add rod tube,,, FF setup on the 4.7 is stupid easy and clean, whereas the T15 only takes a tiny bit more time to get it similar,,, the small stern well makes a great live well,,, the ice box is cool but does add a good deal of weight.  Honestly there's not much differrence between the two,,, my 4.7 seems to be a bit more stable in big choppy stuff and seems to track better, but that might be my mind F'n with me cause I dropped the extra coin for it.  Either boat is great.
If they weren't supposed to be eaten, God wouldn't have made them so damn tasty.
