So I got skunked.  Not even a bite.  I have way more experience trout fishing than bass so I'm sure my goose egg was largely due to user error.

However, this was my first time out fishing in a yak or even paddling a yak.  Why the hell did I wait so long to do this?  Even though i didn't even get close to a fish, I had such a good time.

I bought a t13 from another member (Jaybee) last month, but couldn't get it OTW until today.  Jaybee gave me a great starter package with yak, fish finder, paddle and PFD.   I have spent the last several weeks lurking here and reading other sites on yak fishing.   Still need to add a few things (GPS, VHF, anchor, bilge pump).

I plan on continuing to hit the lakes down here, go take an ocean yak class from MBK, then hopefully I can hit one of you guys up to tag along.

THG, sorry to hear that you didn't get any fish today, but that will eventually come to you. I'm more stoked to read that you finally got your yak wet! :D Thanks for sharing your first experience with us, and when ya feel a lil more comfortable on the plastic and ready to get salty, shoot me a pm, happy to fish with ya sometime :)

Welcome, THG.  You've found a potential lifetime obsession in kayakfishing.  If the bite's not there you've always got the challenge of transporting your body around miles of water that was previously only available as a swimmer, loud and disruptive powerboater, or quirky canoe enthusiast.  Enjoy the freedom, develop and hone the inspiration, share the Good Times.   :smt001
