Bout time! glad he is gone !

Glad it's finally done but it leaves unanswered questions about the Pakistanis as allies and why we went into Iraq and are still in Afghanistan.
Thanks you JSOC and our leaders who never gave up the search.

But here is what a father of one of the 9-11 victims had to say about why he's not celebrating:

I also know that I am expressing an almost universally held view among the families that our government failed us on 9/11. Although some, probably a very few, are convinced that the Bush administration "knew" in advance of the time, place and method of the 9/11 attacks, they are the tiniest and most irrational minority. The rest of us know that widespread incompetence and corruption among those officials were the cause.
Yet, no federal official has been held to account. Not one from the Clinton administration. Not one of the Bush administration officials who ignored the Gore Commission's recommendations for improved airline security, nor anyone from the State Department whose officials, in violation of law, regulation and common sense, issued visas for the asking to the 9/11 terrorists.
So, no, I can't celebrate the death of bin Laden. Too many Americans, who were paid to protect this country but failed to, have skated free of blame.
When they are called to account, and when proper measures have been taken to protect us from future attacks, then I will celebrate.

I just heard on the news that apparently the President and his staff watched it via satellite with a live feed so the whole GoPro thing might not be that far off.

They gave him a "double tap" That's two to the head!!!! Surprized it took this long.........

The reports I heard were one to noodle and one to the chest.  Either way, he is deep in the Arabian Sea.

Heard the government is debating on whether they want to release photos.  While I wouldn't mind seeing them, it really isn't any of our business.

Trying to honor muslim beliefs that when a person dies, they receive burial in 24 hours.

Gotta disagree with ya on this one. We have ALL been affected by this guys acts so I only see it fitting we should ALL get to view his demise.

Celebrating in the streets like a bunch of drunk hockey fans is certainly the wrong response in the context of this global community of ours.

I watched the Saddam Husain hanging before it was pulled from YouTube. It didn't make me happy. I didn't cheer, and even though I knew it was after the fact I still said, " 'F' you ya low life " when it watched it.
If I get to see the Bin Laden pics I wll say the same thing while viewing.

I always wondered how awful it would be if he had died in hiding and then the world would never know what his fate was.

So I am glad that the world does know how Obama Bin Laden perished. In the War on Terror this might be the greatest deterrent. Might be. jim

i think it is our business to see the pictures...not out of hate but more like " ok thats him" kinda body identifing thing , think of this past decade and all the drama this guy was involved in. Pretty much changed the way we live . Bring on the pics i say.

That photo is a hoax.

Bin Laden is dead. THe JSOC and the SEALs don't fool around. They got him and I am glad they finally did it.
If our government was going to fake something like they already have (WMDs, Saddam and Al Qaeda, etc.) they'd have done that long ago.
No, this is real but sobering nonetheless. Pakistan helped hide this guy for perhaps 6 years. That's more disturbing than he was.

I cannot celebrate his execution though it was necessary—it's unfortunate we had to take such measures because of what he did.
His execution closes the chapter but doesn't compensate for the lives he took, the pain he caused—and all senseless and pointless.
And it doesn't tell us how we'll deal with a rogue nuclear power that harbors terrorists.
THis is one end but another beginning and it's not over—far from it.

They say they confirmed his identity via DNA.  So...  they had some of his DNA already to match it to?  How is that?

I don't feel like celebrating.  Sure he needed to go, but it's like a ditch that needed digging...  you're happy when the day is over with, but grimly thinking of the one you still have to dig tomorrow.   

I read they had samples from family members. The bin Ladens go way back in their US dealings I believe.

 I'm interested in the effects this will have on all kings of levels;  folks needing closure, children who grew up with the specter of OBL, our current president's standing (especially among those who criticize him for perceived weakness), perception of US Muslims, the foreign engagements the US is involved in....all kinds of things that this may have some impact on.

We shall see. In the meantime, I just living I life.

No death shoud be celebrated....just acknowledged in whatever way individuales choose, but not CELEBRATING.
