Took the Hobie to to Pyramid on Saturday for my first outting of the season. Arrived at 6:30 a.m. Aquired my permit at Sutcliff and met some buddy's at Shotdog beach. Trolled a couple of different spoons and some flashy lures, but the fish were tight lipped.
My friends were using flyrods and standing on ladders. Since I had never been there before, they were going to show me the ropes.
The 5 of us only caught 3 fish the whole day, and they were in the 19-24" slot so they were released.
My season is off to a rough start.....

Fishing will get better as the water warm up a bit.  Looks like we'll have a couple warm days this week so this weekend should be good.  Thanks for the report Mark.

I have fished Pyramid 3 times this year and by far the most effective lure for me has been a "slow" retrieve frog patterned (Green with yellow or red dots) spoon.  I have thrown a number of different hardware at them, but that spoon has outfished everything.  Cast as far out as possible and let the spoon sink to the bottom...most of my fish have been caught using this technique.

I definitely want to try Pyramid. I visited Sutcliff a few years back and thought of hiring an indian guide (w/my lucky Reno casino winnings) but it was too late in the day.

Those big Cutthroats look like fun.

It would be a nice trip to do a weekend at both Pyramid and Rye Patch (walleye and wipers).
