A guy at work and some of his relatives went ab diving at SWN and they were checking out the rock picking before kicking out they found a couple hung on the beach for awhile then kicked out a few got their limits a few got a couple and 1 got none. When they came back in they were all legal but two Wardens on the beach wrote everybody who had a ab a ticket for starting too early and the guy that had none also. Any idea how much this is going to cost him?

I think they're pretty stiff penalties $1k - $1500, I'd wager.

What time did they start and what time did they pop their first ab?
Did they confiscate the abs?
If they didn't confiscate the abs the fine might not be as severe.
I've never heard of a stiff penalty where the accussed was allowed to keep them.

try looking in here,

http://www.courts.ca.gov/xbcr/cc/nov2010_jcbail.pdf

Look on page 6 to see what M and I mean, then the F&G fines start about page 137, then be sure to read footnote 22,

Then if you can figure it out, Wow,

But seriously, take a look at some of the potential fines for making a mistake, even an honest one...

Whatever fine you see on the DFG list pertaining to abalone(some infractions are not on the scheduled bail list) double it. The Sonoma County courts will get half and the other half goes to the DFG. This was told to me by a person who worked in the CADFG when I asked him about the penalties. I was fined 500.00 and 18 months probation for upgrading one abalone 10 years ago. Dont ask.
