Youth Fishing Day - Newark 4-23

This Saturday 8-11AM. They will net off an small arm of the lake and dump a bunch of Catfish in there for the Youth Fishing Day. I believe it's 12 and under. Poles, tackle and bait are provided during event hours. Newark parks and rec has details. I you have a little one this is I good way to introduce them to the madness. I will be there helping some friends and their kids.

I am interested in bringing my 3 year old daughter.  More details please!!  Just show up at Lakeshore Park?  I bought her a pink fishing pole at Walmart that she can now finally use for the real thing.

Get “hooked” on fishing for life! Introduce your child to the great sport of fishing
during this fun and informative day. Fishing experts from the Tri City Anglers
will give basic instruction on knot tying, casting, baiting the hook and fish handling
techniques. Bring your own pole or use one of our loaner poles. Children under
8 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents are asked
not to fish during the youth fishing time. Parking is on-the-street and very limited.
The lake will be planted with fish for the event. California fish and game laws will be
enforced during the youth fishing day.

They provide bait, but I'll probably bring some dines for that extra edge.
the main lake has some big Cats & bass in it and I think the DFG planted trout in there  about a month or so ago. Not sure if I'd eat what has been in that lake for a long time but fresh planters will be OK. I'm debating whether or not to bring the yak and mess around  in the main 16 acre lake before or after the event -  may give friend's kids a ride.

I will bring some chicken livers for bait.  My 8 year old niece is coming along, I also invited other NCKA Dads in our area to bring their kids.
