Hey folks,

I'm shopping for a decent trolling rod, need not be high end or perfect. I have a Newell 440 spooled with 40 lb test that needs a place to sit. New stuff is available, but this is an outfit that I will use for one or two trips per season, so I'm looking to save some coin...

Do you have anything sitting around that you want to part with?  Or any suggestions on screaming deals on new stuff under 200 bucks?

There are some pretty affordable rods available on the internet made in China, but I'm suspicious about their quality.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Paul

Take a look at a Ugly Stick Tiger , priced at $55-$60 , as good as a Fenwick or Seeker at twice the price !

You could pick up a factory wrapped calstar 670 for a bit under $200 if you shop around and you would have a sick 40# stick.

I think the quality is more important as you get into the heavier gear and it's so nice to have confidence in what you're using.

Let us know what you end up getting and how you like it.

Might be a bit heavy but I have a Fenwick PT 809 30-80lb 28oz 6'8" Classic Glass Made in USA in good shape
