How did it start?

First: The wife decided years ago that tent camping wasn't her thing. I respect that, but it would be nice to have her along to share the good times.

Second: My sons and I shared a camp site with Jeff and James at Albion last year. They had a great little pop-up that I coveted. Looked very comfy and they said it was purchased at a reasonable price. The seed was planted.

I've been shopping CL since then looking for my perfect pop-up match. Well, I guess I'm too picky. Most of the CL pop-ups I looked at were over priced for the age and condition. Seems they hold a good resale price. Also, I have zero handyman skills to rebuild an old one.

So, I took the wife to the Spring RV show at Cal-Expo. I explained to her what I wanted. Small enough to fit in our third garage and light enough to tow with our Escape. Then I let her shop. She wanted a heater, fridge and more comfort than a tent.

Looked at a bunch of Pop-Ups and she chose this one. A 2011 Viking with her heater and a 3 way fridge. I was happy to see it had an electric lift and brakes. SOLD!

She's actually excited about camping now. We even extended our Albion weekend reservation for two more days. YES!

Being new to this, I welcome and would appreciate any pop-up advise from the group.

Regards,
Al

good stuff I have a '76 Coleman (Valley Forge). Did a total redo on it (inside and out). Looking fwd to using it at Albion. Keep yours in good shape. About once a month someone leaves a note on the door asking me if I want to sell it. You can use them with or without hook ups. Nice and cheap! Just PTI tags!

That is NICE Alfredo. Dont let Linelle see that at Albion. She has been wanting one for years. Maybe when we hit 60.  :smt003 :smt006

Very cool!!!! And it's not just your wife who's gonna enjoy it, the GF and I got a little hardside several years ago, for a few years after that I still used a tent when I went without her, well now even on solo trips it's the trailer for me.  Just to many pluses to leave behind.

Congrats.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I've been thinking about racks. I really thought I wanted racks for an easy load. Then I realized that on a long trip with many stops, the kayaks would have to loaded and unloaded at each site. And chances are  I would have to load them onto my truck to get to a launch site. I don't like moving something more than I have to. So, I'll hold off on the racks for a while and use the truck.

The wife and I are planning a couple quick weekend trips to check things out. Looking forward to camping again!

Very nice Alfredo. Time to get pimpin the new rig. My #1 suggestion would be solar bunk covers. They make an amazing difference with the inside temperature.

I did a quick search on the covers. They look interesting.

Thanks for the tip,
Al
