South Bay Brothers-I could use your help

South Bay Brothers and Sisters.

I am doing some fisheries research in the South Bay (Alviso Slough, Eden Landing and Bair Island) and am trying to figure out a way to stay down there on the cheap.  I was thinking of looking for somebody with a house boat that doesn't use it very often, to allow us to crash for 3-4 nights a month.  There's usually 4-6 of us.    Right now we stay at the Milpitas Inn.  It's pretty cheap ~$70/night, but it's pretty ghetto and that adds up to a lot of money after a while.  Any ideas or info would be appreciated.

Man, would love to help you out Jim!  Only thing is I let a friend of mine and his son move into my vacant SJ home a few months ago or i'd offer you the place free of charge.  Course, there was no furniture until he moved in    He may be willing to have visitors though so let me know what a typical 3-4 nights a month looks like on a calendar and I can run it past him.

Not to be a smartazz, or Capt. Obvious, but... you and about a million other people... 

If you can finagle an RV I can suggest a couple places nearby to park for free.  Maybe rent one?
