well it was a year ago this weekend  that ChuckE and I had a 30+ fish day.  Wasn't quite a repeat, but close.

23 perch to about 14"  - with a solid dozen in the 12" range

The beach is in spectacular condition- with rips and holes every 20 yds or so.  Started slow and only got better as the tide drained to only the deepest rips.  Ended up catching 9 fish on "last casts."   For some reason they didn't want the MORF today, and every one but one was caught on a Powerbait in Brown/blk.
Strange catch of the day- a keeper dungie!

steveS, I have a question.

the grub you got your fish on was a 2" grub?

and the morph was a 1.5" grub?

Ok, Ok I spend 45 minutes dropping a hoop next out at Linda Mar and pull up a bunch small dungies, albiet a short time and not to much effort, howerver you go perching and get a keeper.   :smt013

Good for you with dungie and perch :smt002

jselli- go figure, at the top of the tide I could actually see 3-4 crabs in the rips along the bottom...it was strange, but makes me think that next time I'll bring out my snare and give it a whorl

Nice day sounds like fun. The snare sounds like the way to go, hook and line aren't legal for crabs are they?

The snare Idea sounds good. I know Joel mentioned once that he saw guys getting crabs with snares off the beach from Rockaway.  It was pretty windy Saturday so I only paddled about 300 yards off shore to drop the net. Lots of small crabs, but closer than the trap guys. Maybe that is why they get the big ones.
