 Thanks for your effort but were going to have to pull the plug on this one and hopefully reschedule...

I've got a lot of contacting to do right now and reverse this train so please chime in that ya got the message that we are rescheduling....

yes I am bummed too, I had even canceled my yearly kegger backpack trip... luckily the fishing is still on at beardsley. gonna be cold for sure! probably best since most of the warriors are fair weather fishermen. hopefully Mr Kelsey will oblige us a later date..

Thanks Don for all the hard work on this... I know its a lot of prep work..will be looking forward to the next rendezvous.

 So Bummed about this...

 EricB, I wish this was easier, I really do... the facts are it takes months of preparation,  notification and a ton of other things...

not to mention that everything that happens needs to be categorized with "i's" dotted and " t's " crossed...  it all has to do with protecting the vets, and making sure we are right with the IRS and complications with a 501c3.

We are also looked over very hard by the military to be sure they are not just letting their troops go with anyone. I have spent considerable time at functions and correspondence with the military to make this happen. We also need everything to be on the level as we go more in the Grant way to make this work. They will look over every part of what we do and if it's not right, we don't qualify. There is a lot of pressure from National to be sure things are done right, and if ya think I'm going crazy...

 Think of what National is going through as chapters are popping up all over the nation and trying to keep all that in line.

Don:  I think you made the right decision.  The wind, rain, newbies in kayaks is not a good mix.  I don't think we ever want to be in a position of explaining if vets are put in harms way on a day they are supposed to be relaxing.  I worried about that.  Your decision was wise.  I look forward to helping on the next event.

I let Kinder's know about the cancellation.  Maybe next time they will throw in some meat to put the BBQ sauce on.

Just letting you know the VA made the right call. It started raining this morning early and has kept raining since. At 1:00 pm we have received around .50" with some 15+MPH wind gusts so it was good not to hold it today.

I'm in. Did a class there once with Ken Hanley and Jay Murakoshi on Bass Fly Fishing. Nice ponds. And close to home now that I live in Tracy. The Tule Fog was intense that Fall morning coming from Santa Clara, I was a half hour late. Sheesh.
