We trashed two of those and a couple of warranty replacements. Here are a couple hints we should have followed. Rinse...rinse....rinse. Take the battery off the unit and dry separately. Lots of dielectric grease. Only charge as required and never ever leave on the charger.

We switched to the M-72 ...bought the walk away warranty (replaced one already). Great radios but I am a slacker when it comes to simple maintenance.

Oh, a little more....forget the floating radios altogether.  If it does go in the water it'll be out of sight in seconds.

Try returning to Factory Presets if available.

Yes, same exact issue. Maybe work because even the lowest squelch setting makes me want to replace the unit.

Try returning to Factory Presets if available.

How?

Didn't see that option in the Manual:

Probablly need to buy the M-72 before GMS in May.

I've had one for several years with no problems.  My squelch is set on one.  Don't worry about it floating because its' attached to my pfd.

Yes I do and Yes I have. Charging point burning out mostly. Like O2B says don't leave it in the charger or you'll have even more problems than you do now.

I am getting a new radio as well I think  :smt011

I had one. It worked fine for about 2 years when suddenly one day it stopped transmitting. I could hear everybody else but nobody could hear me.

I've since moved to the $100 Standard Horizon, which is 2 or 3 years old and still going strong.

had mine for under a year when this also happened, except i could tramsmit and but not recieve, sent it back and it was fully corroded inside, failed seal, they sent me a new one straight away, radio may suck, but warranty program was great, sent it out on a monday and got it back the next monday, cameron
