I want to install rod mounts and a fish finder mount on my Revo, since I transport my kayak upside down on my car's roof rack, I want to use flush mount bases.  The area where I was thinking about installing the flush mount have string underneath the hull that raise and lower the rudder.

Has anyone installed flush mount bases along those areas?

Three flush mounts on the rails, two ram mounts behind the seats.

Hey, those are the same spots where I want to put the flush mounts.  Do you have any problems with the strings controlling the rudder?

String wearing out?
Rudder control hard to turn?
Rudder, up and down lever hard to pull?

Thanks,

I have one there as well (on the gunwale) near my knee. No issues. I just removed my ram mounts behind the seat. I found they were in the way and my back bumped them pushing them back/down. So I stopped using them. If I ever re installed them I'd put them in the location that O2B has 'em

Newfish, have you considered the Ram mount that will fit into your mast sleeve?  It is removable.  You just tighten it up then attach your FF on a Ram base to the ball in your mast sleeve.  I had concerns about the rudder strings too so I mounted everything with 1/2" long bolts.  They are almost too short, but they stay up above the rudder strings.  If I had it to do over again I might use 3/4" bolts, as I could barely get the 1/2" to thread into the lock nuts all the way----use blue threadlocker locktite on them no matter what size you use.  I have had no problems with the cables so far and I have checked them for wear.  Tote is right on with those flush mounts.  I went with the ram balls and bullet proofed them by tapping a stainless 1 1/2" bolt up the middle PITA!  I think the flush mounts just look better IMHO, but too late now.

Here is the link for th3e mast mount:  http://www.ram-mount.com/SearchResults/tabid/38/searchBy/description/criteria/072079066073069032077065083084032077079085078084/Default.aspx

I have thought about the Ram mount for the center mast sleeve.  It is too far forward for me to reach, but thank you for the suggestion.

Thanks to everyone, especially Tote.  I know what to do now.

Tote are the front rod mounts by the mast hole on your Revo  easy to reach or a bit of a stretch. What type of rod holders do you put in them.
Thanks
Pat R

Not a problem to reach at all.
I use them for my downrugger and fishfinder but I have had my regular scotty rod holders in there and also the rod holders with the extension in there too.
