I'm going to pull the trigger on a radio this week and I've narrowed it down to two that have the features I want.  Among them are:
1. Floating
2. Multiple charging methods including 12V DC
3. In the $100-$150 range

That being the case I'm looking at either the
Standard Horizon HX290 or the Uniden MHS125

Anyone have a significant reason to go either way?

Thanks.

Don't know anything about either radio, but between the choices you have given, I would go Standard Horizon.  Uniden's never seem to last from what i've seen.  I've actually been picking up some older SH radio's from eBay for 50-60$, like the HX600S.  Love these little guys!  :smt003

I've seen a few dead Unidens. IMO go for the SH.

Before I purchased my radio, I read a lot of the posts.  Everyone likes the Standard Horizon.  I brought the Standard Horizon because of the price and their warranty.  There were posts on how great their warranty is.  I got the 750.  The only thing I don't like about it is the size.  It's kinda of big.  If I could do it over, I would buy a smaller Standard Horizon.

Standard Horizon
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
