Purchased the first kayak last year and had a wonderful season fishing for assorted rockfish and ab diving. With salmon opener around the corner any tips on chasing down the salmon. IE techniques and locations. I had a boat I docked in Bodega used to nail them but always a little further out then what would seem to be a safe paddle.

Any and all feedback would be appreciated

Trolling is far more productive in my opinion than mooching. Buy a couple Deep Sixers...it's a diving device that eliminates the need for a weight. Get a few dodgers (the shiny flasher thing) and some Krocodile and Apex lures.

From the Deep Sixer tie 2 feet of 30lb line to the dodger, then another 2 feet to the lure. Start paddling and release the line slowly so as to prevent it from tangling in itself. You'll know when you get a strike. I've caught fish anywhere from 10 pulls to 50 pulls. It's wise to check your rig frequently for weeds, jellyfish, etc. Watch for diving birds and baitfish breaking the surface.

As for location, tune in to the reports section...Just talking about it is getting me excited!
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

There used to be some articles posted on the front page but they're kinda hard to fond right now, but take a look at this one.
