Seek areas that have easy deep water access to spawning habitat.

Crappie like brush or other similar structure.

Once you locate spawning type area (5-8ft deep with brush or other stuff) toss mini jigs to search for fish.

The bigger females will tend to be deeper this early, so if you get really dark males work deeper for the females.
