Has anyone on here been fishing in the secluded ponds across from the aquatic center at lake Natoma? I ran across a video on youtube and it looked interesting. So I looked it up on google maps satelite image and it looks like a good spot to wet a line.  I would imagine the water is warmer in there this time of year.

I fished there once last year, narrow channels, don't know how deep as I did not have a fish finder then.
You have to paddle through a huge culvert to get to the area.
Saw a bunch of huge carp rolling around, and caught a small LMB on a spinner.
Search the site for more posts on it, I remember reading some, maybe in Norcal Inland.
Good luck!

The water is warmer back there. Tons of carp all over the place. Sometimes if you're real still they will come close to the surface and you'll be amazed at the number of them in there. I've seen bass in there, but wasn't seriously fishing. The lake is 5 minutes from the house and I sometimes take a leisurly paddle with the kids. I imagine there are probably catfish in there too. You'll likely see deer under the bushes and trees if you look closely. Good luck. :smt006

I've been back there many times. Like the others mentioned, mostly carp and a few bass. It's a fun place to cruise around. Just go and enjoy the paddle.

You may have to drag the yak a short distance over a shallow section by the culvert if the water is low, but once you're past that it's deep enough for easy paddling. Have you checked out the other channels by Negro Bar?

:smt012 Please excuse the map. I can't seem to get the code to work right. It keeps putting up two maps.

Ive been paddling around the passages by negro bar but havent fished it at all. I dont even know what to use out there right now. I was just gonna throw some minnow lures and plug some powerbait worms, maybe do a drop shot setup. There is a lot of cover in the water and I dont want to be cleaning my setup everytime I pull it out. Any suggestions?

There's a fair amount of cover in the summer. Not as much in the winter of course. You'll have better luck on the bass along the rocks on the north side of the lake across from the main beach area. Starting at the entrance to the channels going east. Work the dropoffs and channels. I seem to remember my friends used to fish that area a lot with plastics. Worms etc. It can be hard to find what works there, but once you do it's worth it. There are a good number of bass there if you can find the pattern.

I have fished in the spot you are talking about, although I have yet to catch anything there.  I usually do better near the cable.

Were you catching trout or bass there. My friend Chris lives within walking distance just up the bluff from there. That's the general area where he catches trout from the shore.
