So I got measured at a shop-It seams I have a 29 inch pull, I looked at a few bows there, many $$$, and Im a loyal Cabelas customer, what about something like this?? Comes with everything but a pig and a deer.

I am a STRONG believer in buying a bow from a DEDICATED archery pro shop, not Cabelas or Bass Pro, no matter the price, ESPECIALLY since you are a newb to archery & bowhunting.

There is A LOT of fine tuning that goes into getting your bow set up right that Cabelas (or Bass Pro) just can not provide... in addition to draw length there is the release, d-loop, cam timing, sight set up, form coaching, etc... not to mention how often I see big box stores sell arrows that are incorectly spined and mismatched with incorrect broadhead weights, etc... you will get full service at a pro shop that you will not get via the big box stores.

Modern bows are like Ferraris that come to you untuned... yeah, it will drive, but it will run rough and not efficiently...

Much better to buy a cheaper or used bow through a pro shop and have them set it up for YOU rather than a seemingly "cheap" package deal from a big box store that will not work properly and will be impossible for you to tune yourself... I have seen time and time again people think they are getting a great deal on a package deal from Cabelas or BPS and then end up being frustrated because they can't understand why their bow will never group well compared to their buddie's bows.

PSE ( precision shooting equipment ) Is quality archery gear I have been using there stuff for 32 years and have never had a problem with the three bows I have had. If I were to get a new one that's where I would go. Like you said there are many. PSE is the top end of bows. Go to Bass pro and pull one. They have lots to choose from. I think Bonny bowmen in Hayward is still around also. There used to be a lot of archery shops 25 years ago.

Like Backcountry said tuning is the trick.

Try a few

I agree, I am biased towards PSE, used to be a staff shooter for them years ago. Big Block stores just don't have the knowledge and support a local shop can give you-kinda like kayaks. I can make any bow shoot good, but there are some real advantages to going to the pros. They are up on the latest technology, and how to make the advustments.  I have not shot competitively for years, and I still shoot two cam bows. The parallel limbs, solo-cams, and the new bells and whistles I am not up on. I think the package you are looking at is a great bow, and package. I would give your local guys a chance to compete on price. I bet they can get pretty close.

My last bow, that I still own, is a PSE Nova. Good bow, but 28" draw, too short for you Ben.
I've always purchased bows from a shop, a shop that knows what they are talking about. I found that I kept going back for help after the initial purchase. It's like having a favorite mechanic, he knows your rig, and how it should run. My current shop is almost 2 hours away from me, but well worth it for me. They also have me and my bow/arrows on file and can ship me arrows as needed by just looking me and the specs up.
Arrows are as unique as your bow fit. They have various weights and spines, depending on what you are shooting them out of and what they have on the business end.
Broadheads, you going to go mechanical, or fixed blade? What about your sights, and rest? There's a ton of stuff to consider and decide upon.
I've been shooting my current bow now for 2 years and it is only now about done being tuned. It seems to have reached the point where I am very confident in it and doesn't need further tweaking.
I think you could find a good deal on a used one, then use a good shop/friends to help you get it dialed in.
I decided on my current bow when I met a fellow hunter at the lake, and shot his bow. It wasn't my bow, yet it shot so well! I was so impressed and had one just like it a week later.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

It's been quite a while since I used my bow, I got in my late teens.  It's a Bear Polar II Still have it.  It's good that you went to an archery shop.  Fortuantly for me, my dad knew all about that stuff and had all the equipment to make arrows and set up the knocks etc... Back when I was shooting, I knew all that stuff as wel from learning from pops.
Sadly this was 20+years ago now, and dad passed in Aug. 09'   My Polar II has a dropoff of 27lbs, my draw was 29" as well.  Point on for me at 65lbs was 55yds. I shot "Instinctive" no sights or balances.  I used to use these broadheads called Wasps. (Dad always got them so I can't tell you who made them) they had replacable razor blades either 3,4 or 6 bladed.  Had to be real carefull changing the blades because, you didn't know you got cut until you saw the blood. They were that sharp.

Anyhow Ben Glad you took the advise.
