Im looking to stick some dinner soon, would love a slightly used "proven pig sticker", as Mako would put it.

Did you want a compound or a traditional bow Ben?? I have a beautiful used Martin Hunter Recurve, right hand, 50# pull. Only hunted once with it, shot it a bunch, fast, accurate powerful. Not proven pig sticker, but I promise it will stick a pig :smt003 ps,. that painting looks great in my living room, and everyone that seen it loves it. Thanks again

Hey Ben, do your self a favor and go to a archery shop and try out some . Also get measured for your draw length. Some bows are not adjustable enough to cover every one. If you do traditional recurve or long bow it does not matter. Figure out what you really like before you jump into it. Just like your Kayak :smt003

Ditto on what WH and MBP say. If you figure out what you want (if you don't pick up MBP's) and then go to Archerytalk.com. It's a HUGE forum with tons of classifieds...so big you can find exactly what you want. ChuckE turned me on to the site and actually found my bow for me at a huge savings. Also a great site for all the "add ons" you will discover you need as you go. Go get "measured" for draw length first. There is a shop up by the airport in Santa Rosa ...get measured there and also check out pricing on new bows....OUCH!

I knew I shouldn't have let you draw my bow when we were at the lake. Sorry Ben!
I'm actually happy for you, and me. Someone else to shoot with.
My .2 cents, there's a lot of terms to become familiar with. The 'net sites all help with this as well as provide lots of other info.
A 60 lb compound is lots easier to pull and hold versus a recurve of the same poundage. Recurves are beautiful in their simplicity. That's what I started with 30 years ago. My current bow is short and sweet. Being short, it tends to shoot kinda' quick and snappy, affecting my accuracy. Longer bows are generaly smoother shooting. Short is good for carrying all day over hill and dale, and I'm accurate enough. I'm very happy with mine.
One last thing. I travel 2 hours to get to the shop where I bought mine new. The guy there dropped everything he was doing to get my bow repaired so I could get back to hunting, and he didn't charge me anything. He also knows my bow inside and out. It's a valuable thing to me.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I have a clean Oneida Strike Eagle all ready to hunt. It's 50-70 draw weight and for draw length, it's a medium. But Ill look for the exact measurement if you are interested.

Ive got the sight and drop away rest on it now (not pictured) Ill throw some brand new arrows and a black ahrd case in as well  :smt003

Hey Ben....

I have a "black bear" compound bow just hanging in the garage.  No idea on the details, but I am not likely to ever use it.....
