Does any one ever hit lake Tulloch? I just ask as i drove by there thursday evening on my way to my parents house for christmas, and there were a ton of fish (i assume trout) rising to eat stuff on the surface. I hear alot more reports from new melones, and the delta. But there were a ton of rings from rising fish all over the lake.

I think im going to hit there the next Friday or Sunday depending on new years plans/weather. I'll have more details towards the middle of the week, regarding day/time.

Ive not been out there, but is there any thing to know about the lake? Any one have any interest in going?

Hi Garety,

I was there a couple weeks ago and the bite was pretty good right where you were looking. Trout killers (like a flat-fish) and spinners worked, rappalas not so much. I never got around to trying grubs.

Garety - my folks live near Tulloch and I usually get out for a few hours when I visit.  I was OTW for 2-3 hours each on 12/23 and 12/24.  Targeting bass, C&R'd a half-dozen fish, mix of 12"-14" SMBs and spots, all caught right about at 26 ft depth.  There were 2-3 trout trollers out in PBs and they seemed to be catching fish top-lining.  I saw a good number of small trout feeding on the surface.  They also dumped a bunch of big brown trout in there last year (if I remember the year correctly) from a local hatchery.  One of those big browns is caught every now and again from what I've heard.  Good luck, it's a beautiful lake to fish in the off-season when it's not overrun by PBs and people.

Garety,

Be sure and post when you get to go, or PM me. I'm not particularly fond of trolling for trout, but I sure enjoy it on that lake, and it's not too far away.
