Hey did any one watch Wild Justice on NAT GEO last Night they did a bit on abalone diving on the Mendo coast where they bust some Asian Abalone poachers ! One of the main stars of the episode was one of the well known Nor cal DFG officers Pat Freeling ! With that said I belive they busted the group with somthing like 42 abalone !!! showed the whole stake out and how they watched them for a couple of days before they busted after leaving one of the casino's on there way home. I have to say it was cool to se them catch these poachers and the best part is one of the last scene's is them showing all the poachers sitting allong side the road with matching silver braclets and there car being pulled on to the toe truck and hualled away !

Spoiler Alert...if you recorded it

Watched it too. The way I saw it was based on a tip the DFG received. The abs were caught legally by a larger group  but once they reached the casino the abs were transferred to one vehicle. That vehicle left the casino alone and when it was pulled over the divers tried calling the other divers (still at the casino) on their cell but the other officers stopped that group at the casino parking lot before they could get to the van and claim they were theirs. We all know what a possession is and when you place 42 abs in one car with only three licenses that exceeds possession. It will be interesting to see how the courts deal with it. For me it's just good to see that the "word" is getting out and WE are ALL being watched.

Many, many years ago a few of us ab dove and due to my friends having a fancy car they put their abs in the back of my truck. As we were leaving the cove the bucket tipped over in the back of my truck. I stopped to right the bucket and my friends kept going. I was tempted to toss theirs in the ditch but I decided to "white knuckle it" all the way home. It was the last time I have done that.

Another time a few buddies  and I went diving ... as we got back to the trucks I put my (four at the time) under my tailgate. They put all theirs in ONE bucket. I told them that was ONE possession and they didn't believe me. A warden came along and asked the group..."who gets the ticket". Turned out they were lucky enough to have one undersize and the warden gave one guy a ticket for that instead of a ticket for way over the limit.
